Technicians can View/Edit Tags in Tablet

With this release, it's now possible for appropriately permissioned technicians to view and edit tags on jobs, locations, and assets.  This will allow you to communicate more information with techs about current job workflow state, customer payment status, and other important information about the job that you record with tags.


Technicians who have been granted the 'View Tags' activity only will be able to see, but not make any changes to, the tags on a record.  Technicians who also have the 'Edit Tags' activity can remove existing tags or add tags that already exist in your ServiceTrade account, while technicians who also have the 'Manage Tags' activity can add any new tag (regardless of whether it already exists).

If you do not wish for your technicians to view/edit/manage tags, you should create a custom technician role that has NOT been granted the activities that you wish to prevent your technicians from accessing, or remove those activities from your existing custom technician roles.

Job Item Used On Dates

There are many use cases in which the date on which a particular job item is used can be useful information for your business.  For instance, knowing the dates on which parts were installed at a customer site can help you better manage your inventory of warehouse and truck stock parts.  Recording a job item's used on date is optional.

In this release, recording the date on which each job item was used is now supported in the technician tablet web application:

The used on date for each job item appears on the job page's job item list, and is also included as a column on the 'Jobs with Job Items' export.

Add Deficiencies Directly to Jobs

When deficiencies are discovered at your customer's site, the most common workflow is to add those deficiencies to a quote which describes how those deficiencies would be repaired.  When that quote is approved, the services to repair those deficiencies are added to the resulting repair job, and when those services are completed, the deficiency is automatically flagged as fixed.

However, there are some cases -- such as for simple, easily fixed deficiencies, or for deficiencies that can be immediately repaired under a contracted Not To Exceed limit -- where the deficiency -> quote -> job workflow is too complex for your needs.  To suppose those simpler use cases, it is now possible to add a deficiency repair directly from a job.

To add a deficiency repair directly to a job, simply click the 'Add to Job' button on any deficiency: 

On the screen that appears, you can choose to add the deficiency repair to any open job at the deficiency's location, or create a new job for the repair.  You may optionally choose to copy the attachments and/or comments from the deficiency to the job.

As with quoted deficiencies, when the resulting deficiency repair service is successfully completed, the deficiency will be marked as fixed.
