Service Link is an available feature for all ServiceTrade subscribers. It enables our users to easily share the rich documentation they gather on jobs -- via ServiceTrade's Mobile and Web Applications -- with their customers for whom they are doing the work.

This "documentation" may include but is not limited to: service descriptions, job comments, equipment deficiencies, photos, audio recordings, work acknowledgments, and custom work forms. 

The intent of this article is to provide a working reference guide for the end-recipients of Service Link. This article is a resource that our subscribers can use, to provide their customers with information on how to interact with the Service Link page.

It will briefly cover:

  • Navigating Service Link's three sections: Details, Files, & Alerts -- and the content you will find under each section
  • How to browse through the thumbnail galleries of files shared via Service Link
  • How to view and download the full-size versions of files like photos and PDF forms

The red circles in the image above illustrate the three different sections you will find on all Service Link pages.

Here's a list of what you can expect to find under each section (more on navigating within each section below):

  • Details - The details section is mainly going to include any text-based information your customer chooses to share with you. There is not really any recipient interactivity in the details section since it is all text-based. Things you could expect to see here are:
  • Job Type and Job Description
  • Job completion time.  This time represents the time that the technician clocked out of the job.
  • Job Services, Service Descriptions, Number of Services on the Job (and their completion statuses)
  • Parts, Items, and Labor Used
  • Comments - Comments can be either technician comments, made by the technician while on the job site; or general office comments, that may provide additional insight into any number of things, depending on the circumstances and/or what your contractor feels the need to share with you.
  • Files - The files section is where you will find most of the media rich job content, such as photos and audio recordings, as well as any custom PDF forms completed, and a work acknowledgment (if applicable). Things you could expect to see here are:
  • Shared PDF files such as inspection forms, survey forms, work acknowledgment forms, and other forms of similar nature.
  • Photos - Shared photos will show up in a thumbnail-style gallery that the user can navigate through, enlarge the view of, and download if desired.
  • Audio Recordings - While not used by our customer base as frequently as electronic PDFs or photos, audio recordings (if present) will also show up under the files section. You can listen to these streaming with a couple clicks, and/or save them as sound files on your computer.
  • Alerts - The alerts section is where any discovered equipment deficiencies will appear if your contractor chooses to share deficiency information with you via Service Link. There are many ways that your contractor can use ServiceTrade to inform you of any deficient equipment found on-the-job, so you may or may not receive deficiency notifications via Service Link.

Which browser is recommended for viewing Service Links?

  • We support the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.

I am having trouble printing a report from the Service Link.

  • Your milage may vary with the PDF viewing and built-in printing functions from browser to browser.  For best results, we recommend that you download any given form, open that form in a PDF viewer (Such as Adobe Reader or Apple Preview), and print from there.  

The Service Link does not look right when I print it.

  • The Service Link itself is not meant to be printed at this time.
  • Essentially, anything that we don't provide an on-page Print button for will have mixed results.
  • We include a printable PDF Work Acknowledgement in Service Link emails. Consider printing this instead.
