This article will provide you with an overview of the various ways in which ServiceTrade can work with your accounting system. Our solutions fall into one of two buckets, Connectors and Integrations (both of which are discussed below), but many customers start using ServiceTrade without their accounting system being connected. This may be the best starting point for you and your company. When you are ready for advanced functionality, Connectors and Integrations can help. Let’s look at each.
Connector v. Integration
What is a Connector?
A Connector is a way to manually export data from your ServiceTrade account and import it into your specific accounting system. Each of our Connectors includes a group of Connections to send specific data to your accounting system that can be easily consumed. Examples of Connections include AR Invoices, Labor Hours, Purchase Orders, Direct Project Costs, and others.
Connectors are good for customers who only need one-way data transfers from their ServiceTrade accounts to their accounting system. Customers using Connectors do not need real-time data transfer and use batch processes to update this information on a daily or weekly basis.
Available ServiceTrade Accounting Connectors include our ComputerEase Connector and our Sage 300 CRE Connector. We have also developed custom Connectors for some of our customers.
What is an Integration?
In ServiceTrade, integrations are automated processes that sync data to/from ServiceTrade and another, third-party application. This can occur either due to a specific action (a trigger) or at a scheduled time.
Integrations are good for Customers who:
- Need to sync data back and forth between two systems
- Real-time integration is required
- Need to initiate syncs of individual records with an action, like the “Send to QuickBooks” workflow in the core ServiceTrade app.
ServiceTrade Accounting Integrations include QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, and Sage Intacct. We also have a host of accounting integrations with systems including Sage 100/MAS90, Sage 100 Contractor, Sage 300 CRE, Netsuite, Microsoft Business Central, Spectrum Viewpoint, and others, available through our trusted partner network.
